One step closer to Skynet

A day doesn't pass when there isn't a news on the web about how AI is going to destroy the world in near future and we are all going to be machine slaves. All that scare to score a few clicks on our news websites and blogs. Some industry leaders have raised their concerns over this too and frankly I just don't know how it all is going to turn out because I don't possess the ability to look into the future. But there are a few thought on the topic in can spare.

the main thing we have to consider here is that intelligence is not like an AND gate. often its not very logical. logic is the most simplified form of reasoning. it doesn't involve intuition and can be easily be demonstrated and replicated in the machines.

in order for a hostile takeover from the intelligent machines it is imperative that the machines somehow develop hostility towards us. I mentioned the sentiment of hostility in particular because this is the simplest of emotions, someone pisses you off; you become hostile, its that simple. Conflict of interest arise ... here comes hostility. but this is not the only reason hostility comes to mind first but also that this is the feeling that is found in even the most primitive life forms, so it means that it is easily acquirable as long as we are talking about evolution.

But if not for hostility It could also happen for a number of other reasons too, for example it could happen that the machines somehow develop the will or desire to rule the world (think ultron), regardless of what they think of humans, other animals, our way of life or our way of handling things. this idea seems far-fetched because this emotion to rule others and establish the dominance over others is purely human. no other species has ever gone to large scale wars. admitted there are small skirmishes among many species (think monkeys), but they fight with tooth and nail, jaws and claws. they never made castles or made weapons of mass destruction. Why? ... Because they just don't care that much. Eat, Sh*t, F*ck, Sleep. thats the main iteration they go through all their lives, never caring for other things much. So just to cross it off our list.

The wikipedia page regarding AI takeover is rational, but too speculative. it doesn't take into account the state of the art, or the fact that most of the technology today is buggy as hell (remember when siri just couldn't answer your simplest of questions).

And to top it all off, humans are too paranoid to let matters of importance into someone else's hands.

Print ("Hello World!")

First post of this blog related to data science and NLP (Natural Language Processing). I was given advice by a mentor to start a blog to track my own progress on a research based projet i have taken upon myself to complete.
So this blog is not as much for other people as it is for myself, LOL!
i hope to share resources for my own bookmarking and journaling purposes. and share my learning experience with my future self.
